POSITION:      POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW

The Medical Physics Unit, McGill University has an immediate opening for a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellow position, funded by Medical Research Council of Canada.

 

Research will be primarily on the development and the clinical evaluation of an in-house inverse treatment planning system incorporating physical, biological and organ motion considerations in the planning process.  The focus will be on identifying clinically relevant, site-specific objectives and constraints to be used in routine inverse treatment planning as well as on the optimization of beam directions for treatment planning.

 

The successful candidate will join the dynamic team of the Medical Physics Department, which provides academic and clinical physics services to McGill University. The medical physics graduate program has AAPM accreditation and currently enrolls 10 students working on various research projects. Departmental facilities include 6 linear accelerators, an AcQsim spiral CT scanner, Brainlab mini MLC and Stereotactic planning system, several CADPLAN planning systems and the Helios inverse planning option. Computing facilities include a network of HP UNIX and PC LINUX workstations, MATLAB and AVS licenses.

 

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Medical Physics, Physics,

Applied Mathematics or Electrical Engineering with experience in UNIX, C, C++ or Fortran. Good communication skills are essential since active

collaboration with dosimetrists and oncologists will be expected.
