Terms of Reference

1. The Professional Affairs Committee reports to the combined COMP Executive and CCPM Board.

2. The Professional Affairs Committee will address issues of professional concern to Medical Physicists in Canada.  These will include, but are not limited to, such items as remuneration, status, working conditions, inter-professional relations, and standards.  The committee will promote the understanding and importance of medical physics in the practice of health care and research.

3. The Professional Affairs Committee is a standing committee of the COMP.

4. The Councilor for Professional Affairs is elected by the COMP membership and is a member of the COMP Executive and is also the Chair of the PAC.

5. Members of the Professional Affairs Committee are appointed by the Executive of the COMP for a three-year renewable term. 

6. The Committee consists of:
a) PAC Chair
b) COMP Chair
c) at least three other members of the COMP who represent both radiation therapy and imaging medical physics.

7. The chair of the Professional Affairs Committee will present a written report to the COMP Executive prior to the Annual General Meeting of the COMP.

8. The Professional Affairs Committee will be responsible for carrying out the annual national Professional and Person power Surveys.
